Public vs private

Hi, I've got a question about an older bucket set up in 2015/6. I didn't make any adjustments to its default settings and I was able to make some individual objects public. I selected "Make Public Using ACL" in the object actions. I assume all other objects in the bucket would remain private based on default privacy settings? (Amazon says the default for buckets has always been private.) Thanks.

That's correct, if specific objects were made public using ACL and you didn't uncheck "Block all public access" explicitly, then all other objects would be private.

Additionally for your reference, please take a look at this blog, where it says that "Block all public access" is a default setting.

    Thanks although this is an older bucket set up in 2015/6 before recent changes. But I see the blog says “S3 buckets and objects have always been private as default”, so I guess this confirms it?

    That's correct, which is why I why I highlighted that statement in the doc.

Hi. Yes, object acl will not affect other objects in same bucket, and default is private.
