Updating AMI of a EC2 Fleet

Is there a way to update the AMI ID used by a EC2 Fleet or Spot Fleet?
I've been reading about Launch Templates, Systems Manager and so on, but it seems to me that for one to change it, we have to terminate the fleet and start a new one.

I've managed to overcome it by using an Auto Scaling Group attached to a Launch Template, instead of using EC2/Spot Fleet.

Whenever I need to update the AMI, I just create a new version of Launch Template, set it to be the Default one. Since the Auto Scaling Group is set to use the Default version, it will pick up the changes.
