created credentials don´t work

0

I created new credentials to be used for sending emails with AWSSES, but when I copied&pasted them to be used by my email server (sending to email-smtp.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com:587), they don´t work and I get invalid credentials errors. I noticed that the new password is a lot shorter than previous passwords. Any idea how to trouble shoot?

Thanks, Joachim

Hi Joachim,

Could you test the policies for your new created user? Just go to IAM > In the main Dashboard go to Policy Simulator (right menu of your screen) > Select your (Service) Account > Select all actions from Amazon Simple Email Service v2.

Are your desired actions green?

Let me know if this helps.

  • Hi Gabriel, I cannot even select the security credentials (aka Access key ID) in the policy simulator. My understanding is, I am not supposed to use user ids directly. Regards, Joachim

Hi Joachim,

I will create another answer so you are notified about the reply. Could you describe step-by-step how you created your credentials? Are your issue regarding the IAM Service Account user or is it the SMTP credentials?

Hello Gabriel,

In IAM I do have a user (existing) and for that user I created a new access key on the security credentials tab, and I copied access key id and secret to user and password respectively on my email server for outbound relay - and it didn´t work. Afai remember, that´s how I did roughly 6 months ago, as the access keys expire occassionally. I just created yet another set, but how can I test that it can authenticate?

Thanks, Joachim
