Cannot pass json list through AWS Connect Set Contact attributes block

I am trying to pass a list of json obtained by http request through a Get customer input block in Connect, In the logs I see my list being returned by my lambda as a python object but not being assigned in my Set contact attributes block, the value is empty. However if I use json.dumps the value is passed correctly. Is it a system limitation or something not set properly ?
