Cloud watch EC2 Metrics for Auto Scaling Environment

0

Dear Gurus,

Please see that i have configured Unified Cloud Watch agent on my Linux and Windows based systems and i can successfully able to see the Memory and Disk Metrics.

Now point of catch here is what happens when we have Auto Scaling enabled on it. Some time EC2 instances get increases when load get increased, and some time it decreases.

How we can handle Cloud Watch Metrics in that scenario.

Thanks Malik Adeel Imtiaz

Your EC2 metrics can not only be viewed as per-instance metrics but also various aggregations, for example by AMI, Autoscale Group, instance type, or all instances.

The Autoscale Group aggregatio nis particularly useful to drive alarms and scaling policies.

  • Hello Skinsman, I want to create a dashbord filter by instance type, but I need that the dashboard has been shared public. Could you help me please?

Set the default warm up time to solve this problem when alarming off EC2 collected metrics.. See: Set the default instance warmup for an Auto Scaling group. You will need to do something different for the Custom Metrics collected by the CW Agent if you are alarming off of them for the ASG.
