Inaccessible server - reachability tests passed

0

Hello all,

I am using running an EC2 instance and have suddenly lost ability to connect to it. I have rebooted and restarted, and I have tried SSH, EC2 instance connect, and session manager but have had no success with reaching this server. The default system and instance reachability tests are both passing... any ideas?

Hello.

It may not be available depending on the instance type, but have you tried connecting via serial console?

You may also want to check the EC2 system log and check for any errors using the steps in the document below.
I think there is another way to take a snapshot and recreate EC2.

  • I was originally on free tier but have made the plunge to a t3, which has the serial console available. There was a faulty program consuming all the memory and causing the ssh to time out - it is now resolved. Thank you for the tip!
