Copilot pipeline using image from ECR and triggered by GitHub push

I have copilot working fine when triggered by a git push to GitHub. But when I try to use an image from a private ECS repository that I built separately, it fails to pull in the changed source code from GitHub. It is triggered by the push to GitHub and deploys just fine but with outdated code. What could I be missing?
