Redshift serverless workgroup stuck modifying status after I deleted it.

My redshift serverless workgroup is stuck modifying status after I deleted it for I don't need it anymore. I can create new workgroup and namespace, but the old ones remains in "modifying" status for almost 48 hours. Please help to resolve this issue.

I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your Redshift Serverless workgroup being stuck in a "Modifying" status after deletion. This is not the expected behavior, as the deletion process should typically complete within a reasonable timeframe.

To address this issue, I recommend the following steps:

  1. First, verify that you've followed the correct deletion process. Ensure you've deleted the workgroup before attempting to delete the namespace, as the namespace cannot be deleted if it still has an associated workgroup.

  2. Check the AWS Health Dashboard for any ongoing service disruptions or maintenance events in your region that might be affecting the Redshift Serverless service.

  3. Review the CloudWatch logs for any errors or warnings related to your Redshift Serverless endpoint. This may provide insights into why the deletion process is stuck.

  4. Ensure there are no active or long-running queries that might be blocking the deletion process. Although you've initiated the deletion, there could be residual processes interfering with the completion.

  5. If possible, try canceling the current deletion operation and attempt to delete the workgroup again using the AWS Management Console or AWS CLI.

  6. If the issue persists after trying these steps, it's recommended to contact AWS Support. They have access to more detailed information about your account and can investigate the root cause of the stuck deletion process.

In the meantime, it's good that you're able to create new workgroups and namespaces. This suggests that the issue is isolated to the specific workgroup you're trying to delete and not a broader problem with your Redshift Serverless setup.

Remember to always ensure you have proper backups and snapshots before attempting to delete resources, as deleted resources often cannot be retrieved.
