policy cannot be deleted(AWS IoT)


The following message is displayed when deleting a policy.
"policy cannot be deleted as versions other than than default version exist (name=XXXXXXXX)"

Please teach me.

A policy can have many versions. A new version is created when the policy is updated. To delete a policy, only a single policy version can be present.

To delete the policy from the web console, we need to follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the policy
  2. Click on “Versions”
  3. Here, you will see all the versions of the policy
  4. Click on the “...” button next to each version. Please ensure that the policy is not marked as “Active” and click on “Delete”
  5. Once there is only one version remaining, click on “Actions” on the top of the page
  6. In the pop-up window, click on “Yes, continue with delete”

You policy is now deleted. Let us know if you face any further issues!
