Request to Enable Amazon Bedrock Foundation Models for My Free Tier Account

Question

Hello AWS Support Team,

I recently created a new AWS Free Tier account, and as per the updated AWS onboarding benefits, I have received $200 in free credits. I also noticed that Amazon Bedrock offers an additional 20 free credits for using foundation models during the getting-started phase.

However, I am currently unable to invoke any Bedrock foundation models (including Amazon Nova, Anthropic Claude, Meta Llama, and Mistral). When trying to run the models in the Bedrock console playground or through the SDK, I consistently receive the following error:

“ValidationException: Operation not allowed”

This happens even when testing in the recommended region (us-east-1). Since I am signed in as the root user and have full access, it appears my AWS account needs to be activated for Bedrock foundation model usage, possibly due to model access restrictions or export-control requirements.

I kindly request you to enable access for the following models on my account:

- Amazon Nova Pro / Nova Lite / Nova Micro  
- Anthropic Claude 3 family (Haiku, Sonnet, Opus)  
- Meta Llama 3.x / 3.1 / 3.2 models  
- Mistral Small / Medium / Large  
- Amazon Titan Text and Embedding models

This access is required for personal learning and development purposes as I am experimenting with LangChain, LangGraph, and AI agent workflows on Bedrock. All usage will stay within the included free credits and my $200 AWS promotional credit balance.

Please enable these models for my account so I can continue learning and testing Amazon Bedrock.

Me too, just filed a case requesting access. In addition, Amazon Q Developer ChatBot told me that the issue was due to the 0.0 Quota Status on my AWS Account, and irrespective of any region, so I had to create a ticket today. I'm still waiting for resolutions, as I was told to wait 1-24 hours

Hello.

Amazon Bedrock's underlying models have recently become available for use without being enabled in model access.

> Access to all Amazon Bedrock foundation models is enabled by default with the correct AWS Marketplace permissions. To get started, simply select a model from the model catalog in the Amazon Bedrock console and open it in the playground or invoke the model using the InvokeModel or Converse API operations. For information about the different models supported in Amazon Bedrock, see Amazon Bedrock foundation model information. For information about model pricing, see Amazon Bedrock Pricing.

By the way, for Anthropic models, you will need to submit a use case.  
> Anthropic requires first-time customers to submit use case details before invoking a model once per account or once at the organization's management account. You can submit use case details by selecting an Anthropic model from the model catalog in the Amazon Bedrock console or calling the PutUseCaseForModelAccess API command. Access to the model is granted immediately after use case details are successfully submitted. The form submission at the root account will be inherited by other accounts in the same AWS Organizations.

Therefore, if you are unable to access via API, etc., it is possible that there is a problem with your AWS account, so I recommend that you contact AWS Support.
