EBS limits on r5b.4xlarge

0

I wasn't able to determine EBS limits on a r5b.4xlarge instance with the document below. (Windows 2022)

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/volume_limits.html

Trying to attach the 16th EBS volumes generates:

Device name:xvdundefined

Recommended device names for Windows: /dev/sda1 for root volume. xvd[f-p] for data volumes.

xvdp was the last successfully attached volume.

Thanks

Hi there!

From the documentation you shared, please note the following:

Most of these instances support a maximum of 28 attachments. For example, if you have no additional network interface attachments on an EBS-only instance, you can attach up to 27 EBS volumes to it.

Do you have network interface attachments (FSx for example)? Those count as attachments.

I hope this helps.

  • This helps - should I manually make the device names xvdq xvdr xvds etc? The auto device naming stopped at xvdp.

  • You can try that as well. :)

If I helped please accept my answer. Thank you!
