S3 Early deletion Fees

0

When a customer de-archieve data from Glacier Deep Archive to S3 Standard storage. Is there a fee assocaited with the early deletion of data in S3 Stadndard?

Example: If we de-archive data from glacier deep archive and define the temp copy for lets say 10days, but then delete the archived object after 1 day, what will happen with the de-archived copy? Will it also be deleted and will we be charged an early deletion fee or will it stay. Wont we be able to delete the data earlier?

Hello,

I think the early deletion fee only applies if the archived objects in Glacier Deep Archive are deleted within 180 days for Glacier Deep Archive which is also can be named as minimum period. Once objects have been restored from Glacier to S3 Standard, you can delete them from S3 Standard at any time without incurring additional fees beyond normal S3 storage and request fees.

In your situation, if data is restored from Glacier Deep Archive to S3 Standard with a 10-day lifecycle rule, but is deleted from S3 Standard after 1 day, there would be no early deletion fee charged. The restored objects in S3 Standard can be deleted independently of the archived objects in Glacier Deep Archive

Thanks
