why we can change the alarm policies

0

i want to optimize my auto scaling, but the alarm hat control the behavior of the autoscaling whether it is scaling up or scaling down. i found there is an event where it supposed not scaling up or down but it happened. i want to modify the target tracking policies so that i can optimize the auto scaling features

Error Cannot edit TargetTracking-SuperAppAPI-ASG-AlarmHigh-2eff6c11-1dfb-409d-a847-02185b6b9d4f as it is an Auto Scaling alarm with target tracking scaling policies.

Hi, Please note that the CloudWatch alarms that are associated with your target tracking scaling policies are created and managed by Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling. So you should not create, edit, or delete the CloudWatch alarms that are used with a target tracking scaling policy. Refer: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/autoscaling/ec2/userguide/as-scaling-target-tracking.html#target-tracking-considerations

Instead of trying to edit the alarm directly, you should modify the target tracking scaling policy itself. This will automatically update the associated alarms as needed.
