It appears there may be some misunderstanding about Amazon GameLift's multi-location fleet capabilities. The feature to deploy GameLift fleets to multiple locations has not been removed. However, there are certain conditions and limitations that might prevent you from deploying to multiple locations:
-
Fleet creation date: Fleets created before March 2021 cannot support multiple locations. If you're working with an older fleet, this could be the reason you're unable to add remote locations.
-
Region support: Not all AWS Regions support multi-location fleets. If you're trying to create a fleet in a Region that doesn't support this feature, you won't be able to add remote locations.
-
Instance type availability: When adding new remote locations, you can only select locations where the fleet's instance type is available. If the instance type you've chosen for your fleet isn't available in other locations, you won't be able to add those locations.
-
Account permissions: To use multi-location fleets, your AWS account needs to have the necessary permissions, including the ability to describe AWS Regions.
-
Region enablement: Some AWS Regions are not enabled by default for an AWS account. If you want to use these Regions in a multi-location fleet, you need to enable them first.
If you're still experiencing issues deploying to multiple locations from ap-south-1, it would be advisable to check these points and ensure your fleet meets all the requirements for multi-location deployment. If the problem persists, you may want to contact AWS support for further assistance.
