Are the required ports and IP addresses allowed in security groups and network ACLs?

We want to make sure that we can communicate with the mail server, so try running the telnet command with the global IP address of the EC2 instead of the domain.
If you are able to communicate with the EC2 IP address, it is possible that the DNS settings are incorrect, so check that the MX record is registered correctly by using "nslookup" or similar. Check that EC2 is listening on port 465. If your EC2 is Linux, you can check the port number with the following command.lsof -i -P
