Service disruption in AWS Middle East Region (me-central-1)

-1

Hello,

we are currently experiencing service disruption in the AWS Middle East (UAE) Region – me-central-1.

We are unable to retrieve snapshots and move our workloads to another region due to the ongoing infrastructure issues.

Could you please provide:

• an update on the recovery timeline of the affected infrastructure • confirmation on when snapshot access will be restored • guidance on how to migrate services to another region while the disruption is ongoing

These services are critical for our operations and we need to move them to another region as soon as possible.

Thank you for your assistance.

I understand you're experiencing a critical service disruption in the Middle East (UAE) Region. However, I don't have access to real-time service status information or specific incident updates for ongoing outages.

For immediate assistance with your situation, I recommend:

For Real-Time Status Updates: Contact AWS Support directly through your AWS account, as they can provide specific information about the current incident, recovery timelines, and snapshot access restoration.

Regarding Cross-Region Migration During Disruptions: When planning disaster recovery across regions, there are several approaches you can consider for future resilience:

  • Using Amazon EC2 AMIs that can be restored to a target in a new region, though this depends on having snapshots already replicated before the disruption
  • Implementing warm standby configurations in remote regions that maintain synchronized replicas of your resources
  • Setting up continuous replication solutions that keep data synchronized across regions before incidents occur

Important Consideration: If snapshots are currently inaccessible due to the regional disruption, migration options may be limited until service is restored. This highlights the importance of implementing multi-region disaster recovery strategies proactively, with regular replication of critical data and configurations to alternate regions before disruptions occur.

I strongly encourage you to open a support case with AWS Support immediately if you haven't already, as they can provide incident-specific guidance and potentially expedite access to your resources. For production-critical situations, ensure you're using the appropriate support severity level to get the fastest response.

Does this IP still change if restarted? Is there any way for me to convert this IP to an elastic IP
