[Announcement] Amazon Redshift Maintenance (October 18th 2021 - January 18th 2022)

Major Version (10/20/2021)

We will be patching your Amazon Redshift clusters during your system maintenance window in the coming weeks. The timing of the patch will depend on your region and maintenance window settings. You can view or change your maintenance window settings from the AWS Management Console. After your cluster has been patched, the new cluster version will be Build 1.0.32574. This version includes the following new features and improvements:

• Redshift Spectrum: Advisor now supports new performance recommendation to alter a sort key from INTERLEAVED to COMPOUND or no sort key.
• Amazon Redshift: Returning well-known binary in hexadecimal format.
• Amazon Redshift: Added support for COPY to split large file of TEXT format into smaller ranges automatically to scan in parallel.
• Amazon Redshift: Added support for FILLRECORD when loading data from PARQUET and ORC formats.
• Amazon Redshift: Add support to model explainability in Amazon Redshift ML. With model explainability report, you can use feature importance values to help understand how each attribute in your training data contributes to the predicted result.
• Amazon Redshift: Reduced audit log export latency to minutes; customers can expect up to an order of magnitude reduction in time for audit log data to arrive in their S3 buckets.
• Amazon Redshift: Concurrency Scaling now supports COPY, INSERT, DELETE, and UPDATE queries in following regions: ap-south-1, eu-central-1, us-east-2, us-west-1. More regions will have this capability in the coming weeks.
