How do I identify which resources are inserted in the GetMetricData

Question

I checked all the API operations performed by CloudWatch, but something caught my eye: the GetMetricData and Unknown operations.

However, I need to identify in the Console which resources were responsible for the increase in this operation, since the details table provided doesn't give me any useful information.

The Cost Explorer Saved Reports menu doesn't give me this information. Is there any way I can use the filters available in the Cost Explorer console to identify which resources these operations were carried out on?

Also, how do you know which resources/metrics are associated with the Unknown operation?

Thanks for reaching out.

In order to figure out the source of GetMetricData, we basically need to find out who's making the API calls. To do so, performing a caller analysis report is required. Furthermore, no resource ID is associated with this item, so cost explorer might not provide you with that information even if Resource Level data has been enabled (same for Unknown operation).

That being said, please open a ticket with AWS Support so they can engage our internal Service Team to help us get the analysis you require. This analysis will include information such as for example the API call count and Remote IP.
