From the review of the internal docs I am sorry at present there is currently no news on when G5 instance type will be supported for batch. Furthermore, I also checked with our internal team to see if they have any information regarding this. The team has indicated that they currently working on G5 support for batch but no ETA has been listed yet.I also confirmed by checking the publicly available docs [1-2].
I would recommend keeping an eye on the below two docs for news regarding the instance support.
[1] https://docs.aws.amazon.com/batch/latest/userguide/document_history.html [2] https://aws.amazon.com/new/ (search under compute and select AWS Batch)

Thanks for your answer. I really wonder why AWS doesn't make this a priority. G4dn instances are running out in 2 regions and G5 instances have been released a year ago already :(
