Eligibility criteria for AWS Activate $100K Credit

0

I am seeking clarification regarding the eligibility criteria for the $100K AWS Activate credits (NVIDIA Inception package).

The AWS Activate website outlines general eligibility requirements, but I have recently been informed that to qualify for the $100K credit, a startup must have secured a minimum of $250K in institutional (accredited investor) funding. However, I could not find this specific funding requirement stated anywhere on the official AWS Activate webpage.

Could you please confirm whether this funding requirement is officially part of the eligibility criteria for AWS Activate credits? If so, where can this be found in the official documentation?

Transparency in these requirements is crucial for early-stage startups navigating the AWS Activate program, and I would appreciate a clear and definitive answer.

Partner was Nvidia inception program and they have approved the application. However it is AWS activate team member who gave primary reason given for the application's rejection was that my organization had not demonstrated NVIDIA adoption. But that was totally incorrect and we gave screenshots of Nvidia instances and subscritions. Now that this has been clarified, it appears that additional reasons like institutional funding are being cited to justify the decision retroactively. We feel like it hurt his ego and he has been rejecting applications for one or the other reason and rejecting it since October 2024.

As you have mentioned the requirement stating that a startup must have secured a minimum of $250K in institutional funding is not explicitly mentioned on the AWS Activate website. AWS Activate is designed to support startups, not to place unnecessary barriers in front of early-stage founders who are already facing significant challenges.

However we don't know whom we can contact or escalate this. It is disappointing to encounter this level of inconsistency in communication from AWS activate team.

  • Are the initials of this AWS rep, AK? We are encountering a similar issue for our company. We won't survive as a hardware startup without these credits. Only last solution we have right now is to migrate to Azure through the Microsoft startups program.

Based on the available information, there does not appear to be an official requirement for startups to have secured a minimum of $250K in institutional funding to qualify for the $100K AWS Activate credits. The eligibility criteria for AWS Activate credits, as outlined in official sources, do not explicitly mention this funding requirement.

The key eligibility criteria for the AWS Activate $100K credit package include:

  1. Being associated with an Activate Provider and having their Organizational ID
  2. Not having previously redeemed $100,000 total in AWS Activate credits
  3. Not having previously received AWS Activate credits of equal or greater value from an Activate Provider
  4. Being self-funded or funded pre-series B
  5. Having a fully-functioning company website
  6. Being founded within the past 10 years

It's important to note that while these are the general criteria, AWS may have additional or specific requirements for certain packages or partnerships that are not publicly disclosed. The funding status is mentioned as "self-funded or funded pre-series B," which suggests that both bootstrapped and funded startups can be eligible, without specifying a minimum funding amount.

If you've been informed about a $250K funding requirement, it's possible that this might be a specific condition for a particular Activate Provider or program. However, this requirement is not stated in the general eligibility criteria available on AWS's official channels.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding your specific situation, it's recommended to contact the AWS Activate team directly through their official contact channels. They can provide you with the most current and detailed eligibility requirements, including any specific conditions that may apply to your case or the NVIDIA Inception package you're interested in.
