I apologize for the confusion, but it seems there might be a few reasons why you're not seeing the GenAI index option:
-
Region availability: Amazon Kendra GenAI Enterprise Edition indexes are only available in specific regions, namely US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon). If you're trying to create the index in a different region, you won't see this option.
-
Console view: Make sure you're looking at the most up-to-date version of the Amazon Kendra console. Sometimes, new features may not appear immediately if you're using an older cached version of the page.
-
Account permissions: Ensure that your AWS account has the necessary permissions to create GenAI indexes.
To create a GenAI index, when available, you should follow these steps:
- Go to the Amazon Kendra console and choose "Create index"
- In the index creation process, you should see an option to select "GenAI edition" as your index type
- Follow the prompts to configure user access control and review your settings
- Create the index
If you've confirmed you're in the correct region and still don't see the GenAI option, it might be worth reaching out to AWS support for further assistance. They can check if there are any account-specific issues or if there's a temporary limitation in place.
