Amazon Bedrock models listed as "Unavailable" in eu-west-1 Ireland region

1

I have been using Amazon Bedrock across multiple regions and when I attempted to activate the available base models in eu-west-1 Ireland, I see them all listed as "Unavailable."

Before I realized the "Unavailable" message was not the same as the "Available to request" message (that I'd seen in other regions before requesting access), I tried the "Enable all models" button, hit "Next" and "Submit," and received an error for each model "Your account is not authorized to invoke this API operation" in spite of being able to activate the models in other regions using this same account.

Is this a temporary issue or do I need to do something in order to activate those base models in Ireland?

Thanks.

The reason for this issue is that the eu-west-1 region is currently an invite-only region, and your account needs to be allowlisted to use any models there. You may need to reach out to your account manager or AWS support, let them know what models you need access with in Ireland region, then they can help open a ticket for you to the internal Bedrock service team to add your account in the allowlist. Hope this helps.

Hello.

Even in my AWS account, the model was set to "Unavailable" in the Ireland region.
There is a possibility that AWS has some restrictions in place in the Ireland region, so I recommend that you open a case with AWS Support under "Account and billing" and inquire.
Inquiries under "Account and billing" can be made free of charge.

  • Unfortunately, Account & Billing says this inquiry is outside their scope and valiantly attempted to help by pointing me at a tangentially related re:Post question.

I have heard several reports that Claude 3 Opus in us-west-2 Oregon is also showing "Unavailable" even though all the other models are able to be activated. Hopefully it is just something temporary as they expand capacity!

Can I ask which region you are trying this operation in? Have you checked the models supported by region since the model you are trying to use might not be available (or only available to allowlisted users)?
