Are User Notifications working for you since the Organisation update?

0

Since the organizations update around 5 September, I've unable to edit my User Notifications as the "optional" AWS Organisations section never loads. This occurs in a guest profile in Chrome with an account with the AdministratorAccess policy, so with no custom browser settings or extensions and no account restrictions. Doesn't work in Firefox either. Is this happening for other people using AWS Organisations and User Notifications?

I've reported this issue multiple time via feedback. The non-profit I work for doesn't have a support plan so I can't open a ticket about this.

I should note that creating new notification configurations works. Its editing existing that is broken.

  • Thank you for looking into this. It's still broken for me when editing any existing alert, even when using a guest profile in Chrome. I try to remember to include my email on every report, but have just submitted another

  • Thank you so much for resolving this.

The issue you're experiencing with AWS User Notifications and AWS Organizations integration is not something I can confirm as a widespread problem. However, I can provide some information that might help troubleshoot your situation.

First, it's important to note that if you previously enabled trusted access for User Notifications using the AWS Organizations API, you might be missing User Notifications configurations that allow the service to function properly. In this case, AWS recommends using the AWS Organizations API or AWS CLI to disable trusted access, and then re-enable it following the proper procedure.

For User Notifications to work properly with Organizations, you need to ensure:

  1. User Notifications is supported in your Region
  2. Your AWS account has the proper permissions if using Service Control Policies (SCPs)
  3. Your IAM user or role has the necessary permissions ("notifications:" and "notifications-contacts:")

Additionally, if you're trying to access organizational notifications, you need to be signed in to the management account as an IAM user or assume an IAM role with appropriate permissions.

The Organizational Notification Configurations feature allows management accounts or delegated administrators (up to 5) to centrally configure and view notifications across their organization. If you're experiencing UI loading issues specifically in the "optional" AWS Organizations section, it could be related to permissions, browser issues, or potentially a service problem.

Since you've already tried different browsers and profiles, it suggests the issue might be related to account permissions or a potential service issue rather than a browser-specific problem.
