Unexplained CPU Usage Increase in AWS RDS Serverless V1

0

Hello AWS Community,

I am experiencing a challenging issue with my AWS RDS Serverless V1 instance and seeking guidance. For about a month now, I've noticed a significant and unexplained increase in CPU usage. This escalation has triggered scaling up to 16 ACUs, despite no apparent surge in requests or traffic.

To address this, I've performed several optimizations but, unfortunately, they haven't yielded the desired results. The high CPU usage persists, and I'm trying to pinpoint the cause.

Here's what I've observed and done so far:

  • Increased CPU usage without a corresponding increase in web requests (verified via CloudWatch).
  • Concurrent rise in ReadIOPS alongside the CPU spike, which also lacks an obvious explanation.
  • Regular monitoring of CPU trends, read/write IOPS, and site requests on CloudWatch.

I am looking for insights or tools that could help me conduct a more effective troubleshooting process. Are there specific AWS tools or third-party applications recommended for diagnosing such issues in RDS Serverless environments? Any advice or steps that I might have overlooked would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!
