Is there a way to add a step between other steps in a recipe with the UI?

It seems like the only option when adding a new step to a recipe with the visual UI is to add it to the end, as the last step.
There are cases where I'd like to modify a recipe and add a step between existing steps.
The workaround I have found is to add whatever step i wanted to insert at the end, download the recipe as a JSON file, reorder the steps, then re-upload the recipe. This is a bit of a pain though.

Is there any way to do this w/o that workaround? ^
Or are there any plans to add in this functionality?

Coming soon! We are currently working on adding step re-ordering directly in the Project workspace UI. Will keep you posted when this feature is released.

For now, your workaround makes sense - the alternate is to undo your steps up until that index, apply the missing step, then reapply, but I suspect your approach will work better for longer recipes.

Awesome! Is there a way I can stay updated on the changes made to DataBrew?

Absolutely, I recommend subscribing to AWS What's New posts - we'll announce all of our larger features there. https://aws.amazon.com/new/

The time has come :) DataBrew now supports re-ordering recipe steps within the project workspace.

Open a project, and you'll find the "Reorder steps" icon in the right hand recipe panel (note that the button is enabled only if you have two or more steps).
