AWS Aurora Serverless V1 scaling issue: "...scaling wasn't seamless for this reason: An internal error occurred."

0

Hi,

This weekend, we had db clusters running Aurora Serverless V1 that got automatically upgraded to engine version "5.7.mysql_aurora.2.11.3". Since then, we've been seeing recurring issues when scaling events take place. Not always, but several times per day and it's causing downtime. See the following typical example:

September 26, 2023, 18:21 (UTC+02:00) Scaling DB cluster from 4 capacity units to 8 capacity units for this reason: Autoscaling.
September 26, 2023, 18:21 (UTC+02:00) DB instance restarted
September 26, 2023, 18:22 (UTC+02:00) The DB cluster has scaled from 4 capacity units to 8 capacity units, but scaling wasn't seamless for this reason: An internal error occurred.
September 26, 2023, 18:32 (UTC+02:00) Your Aurora Serverless DB cluster has automatically recovered.

We've not had this problem before, it appears to have started after the upgrade. Any ideas what this is about?

All the best,

/daniel
