Why i got charged for 1$ AWS EMEA?

0

AWS EMEA Charged me 1$ at the exact same time as i started recieving a buch of emails that say "You recently requested an AWS service that required additional validation..." even though i did not requested any services and after like 4 minutes i recieved "Getting started with AWS Cost Anomaly Detection". Are those events even connected to each other? Also I deployed my website (on other platform) which uses Amazon S3 for data storing, maybe this is the case? However I dont exceed the free plan, i checked billing board and everywhere i saw 0$, and I did not purchase anything. And if charging 1$ is normal will Amazon give it back?

Thank you for response.

  1. Go to Cost Explorer -> Choose Date Range in right pane
  2. Granularity -> Daily
  3. Dimension -> Usage Type
  4. Service -> Don't choose anything

Note: Repeat same by changing option in Dimensions field as Cost Category and Availability zone, Charge Type one by one and see where you see $1 charge.

This would show you when and what are the resources/which AZ that's happening.

If you want to setup alert, you can consider setting up AWS budgets and configure alarm on those, which would notify you, if you cross the defined usage threshold. Follow the Well Architected Lab instructions here for setting up budget alert based on your usage.

However, if you still don't figure out and think that it's not a legitimate charge, contact AWS Billing Support Team by following instructions at here
