Thank you for your feedback regarding the AWS Systems Manager Quick Setup for patch policies.
You have mentioned that when configuring a patch policy using Quick Setup, the "custom" option for targeting nodes gives you option to add 1 Tag for targets. However, when you select the "entire organization" option, it gives you option to add 50 tags to Quick Setup configuration manager resources.
I want to clarify that the 50 tag option when we select "Organization" is NOT for selecting targets. I think this is what caused the confusion.
The ability to use multiple tags for targeting can be very useful in complex environments where resources need to be identified and managed based on various attributes. Having this capability in the "custom" targeting option would provide more flexibility and granular control over which nodes are included in the patch policy.
If you want a feature to add more than 1 Tag for target when applying quick setup your ability to implement an effective patching solution, I would encourage you to submit this feedback directly to AWS support or through their feature request channels.
Remember that patch policies are a relatively new feature in AWS Systems Manager, introduced in December 2022, so it's likely that AWS will continue to enhance and refine this functionality based on user experiences and requests like yours.
