Failure when creating new fuota task

0

Hello everyone, I am trying to create and start a new Fuota task either from Cloudshell and web page but I'm currently facing issues when creating it. In fact, "Create" button from web page is not responsive as clicking on it does not bring changes. On Cloudshell section the CLI (aws iotwireless create-fuota-task [params]) returns 'Could not connect to the endpoint URL: "https://api.iotwireless.EU868.amazonaws.com/fuota-tasks"'.

What can I do to fix this?

HI. Can you please share some details about the parameters you're passing to aws iotwireless create-fuota-task?

I just tried a FUOTA and had no problem doing so. I used RF region AU915, in us-east-1. Unless it's a problem with your specific regions, I think there's likely an issue with the parameters you're using on both the command line and the console.

  • Hello Greg,

    Eventually I've realized I was using the wrong CLI. The following works fine:

    aws iotwireless create-fuota-task --name FuotaTest --firmware-update-image s3://path --firmware-update-role arn:aws:iam::policy --redundancy-percent 25 --fragment-size-bytes 48 --fragment-interval-ms 3000 --region eu-west-1 --lorawan RfRegion=EU868

    However, the web page still doesn't work since clicking on "Create" button from "Fuota task" section doesn't create the task. Still, clicking on "Previous" on the same page has effects.

I apologize for the issues you're experiencing with creating a FUOTA (Firmware Update Over-The-Air) task. Let's address the problems you're facing:

  1. Web Console Issue: The unresponsive "Create" button in the web console could be due to a browser-related problem or a temporary glitch in the AWS console. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, or use a different browser to see if the issue persists.

  2. CloudShell CLI Error: The error message you're receiving in CloudShell suggests there might be a problem with the endpoint URL. The specific endpoint "api.iotwireless.EU868.amazonaws.com" seems unusual, as AWS IoT Wireless typically uses region-specific endpoints rather than frequency band-specific ones.

To resolve this, try the following:

a) Verify your AWS CLI configuration, especially the region setting. You can check this by running: aws configure list

b) Ensure you're using the correct region for your IoT Wireless resources. If you're in Europe, it might be "eu-west-1" or another European region.

c) Try specifying the region explicitly in your command: aws iotwireless create-fuota-task --region eu-west-1 [other parameters]

d) If the issue persists, check your network connectivity and ensure you don't have any firewall or proxy settings blocking access to AWS endpoints.

If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may want to check the AWS IoT Wireless service health status and consider contacting AWS support for further assistance. They can help diagnose any account-specific or service-related issues that might be preventing you from creating FUOTA tasks.
