awscli in Amazon Linux 2 is outdated and does not support the new Glacier Instant Retrieval (GLACIER_IR)

The version of awscli in the Amazon Linux 2 repo is 1.18 which is outdated and does not support the new GLACIER_IR storage class for S3. I had to uninstall the repo version and install 1.22 via pip3 to use GLACIER_IR.

I thought it was safe to assume that Amazon's own distro that touts integration with ec2 would have an up-to-date awscli, but apparently not. Amazon Linux 2 is an LTS release, but it feels like it has been neglected ever since AL 2022 was announced. Please don't forget about us.

Yes, correct. I agree on this specially because there are lots of major difference between AWS CLI v1 and v2. This is because AWS CLI v2 can be manually installed and adding additional public AMI has difficult onboarding procedure. We will push the new AMI with AWS CLI v2 version. Thank you very much for the feedback.
