Monitron Sensors won't stay connected to gateways

0

Hey Team, We seem to be struggling with this specific area where our sensors won't stay online and connect to the gateways. The sensors aren't super close to the gateways but the distance is about 30 ft away which, according to the manual, is a reasonable distance. We are still getting readings intermittently but will go back offline. We can do manual readings with the phone app with no problem. The gateway to sensor ratio isn't high say about 8 to 12 per gateway. When analyzing the outages on a map of the equipment, there is no real pattern to the problem and seems to be effecting the whole area. Some sensor stay connected and others do not. Maybe worth noting that new ethernet ports were recently installed for these gateways and sensors. Any help or suggestions are really appreciated. Thank you.

Relocate or Adjust Sensors and Gateways: Experiment with different placements for both sensors and gateways to find the most reliable configuration.

Inspect Network and Power Setup: Test the new Ethernet ports for stability and ensure the gateways are receiving consistent power.

Monitor for Interference: Identify and mitigate any sources of EMI or physical barriers that might be affecting the signal.

Perform a Controlled Test: Temporarily disconnect some sensors and check if the remaining ones maintain a stable connection, which might indicate an issue with load or interference.

Hello,

It sounds like you're having trouble with some of your Monitron sensors not staying connected to the gateways, even though they are within the expected range. Here are a few simple things you can check or try:

1.Interference: Make sure there aren’t any objects or other wireless devices between the sensors and the gateways that might be causing interference. Things like metal shelves, thick walls, or other electronics can disrupt the signal.

2.Gateway Placement: Try to place the gateways in open areas with a clear path to the sensors. Even though 30 feet is within the range, obstacles can still cause connection issues.

3.New Ethernet Ports: Since you mentioned that new ethernet ports were installed, double-check that everything is set up correctly with the network. Sometimes, network settings can affect how devices connect and stay online.

4.Update Firmware: Make sure the gateways and sensors have the latest software updates. Outdated firmware can cause connection problems.

Restart the Gateways: Simply turning the gateways off and on again can sometimes solve connectivity issues.

Thank you all for replying to this question. As of now, we have a higher issue that requires the help of NARF which a ticket has been generated for through CHA1 IT team. To put it simply, the data drops we have are not set properly and that is what is hindering our gateways and sensors. Other propose solutions may come into play when this issue is dealt with. This will be updated once it's been taken care of.
