Request for Assistance with AWS Charges

I am Sakshi, a student from the University of Paris. I used the service for a university project and intended to use it only temporarily, but I unknowingly incurred charges by using many services. As it was my first time using AWS, I did not fully understand how to manage the services properly. In an attempt to stop the charges, I tried to close my account and unsubscribe from the products, but I was unable to complete the process in time and was charged a significant amount. Please kindly help me unsubscribe from all services to prevent further charges, as I am unable to pay the bills. Thank you very much. If you need proof that I am a university student, I can provide my university ID card.

It is better to process a large number of claims first.
If you encounter unexpected charges on AWS or would like to appeal a bill, please contact AWS Support by opening a case under "Account and billing".

For questions about your AWS bills or to appeal your charges, contact AWS Support to address your inquiries immediately. To get help, see Getting help with AWS Billing. To understand your bills page contents, see Using the Bills page to understand your monthly charges and invoice.

Additionally, if you do not need all AWS services, you can delete them using a tool called aws-nuke.
Basically, all services will disappear, so please be careful when using it.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your guidance on managing unexpected AWS charges and the information on how to contact support for billing issues.

I must admit that I was under the impression that I was still within a free trial period and unaware that my usage had exceeded the trial's limits. This misunderstanding led to the unexpected charges. Given this situation, I kindly request a reconsideration of these charges and potential reimbursement.

I am new to AWS and was not fully aware of the billing processes or the steps necessary to properly manage service subscriptions, which currently I don't know properly.

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

  • @Sakshi, this is a public discussion forum. Most of us are users and customers of AWS services. We can't do anything about your billing issues, unless some AWS representative happens to notice the discussion. It is of paramount importance that you open a case with AWS support immediately. The sooner you contact them, the better the chances they might be able to help. Of course, do continue with the deletion of your unneeded resources, as that'll be needed regardless of whether or not AWS might agree to waive some of your charges.

Thank you for the guidance. Could you please direct me to where I can contact AWS support? I'm having trouble finding the correct contact information.
