VPC Traffic Mirror Session Error

0

I'm confused about what is required to setup a traffic mirror session. I haven't seen any specific dependencies for instance type or funtion etc. When I assign the mirror source I get an error the reads "eni-xxx must be attached to a supported instance". I have tried connecting this to different virtual nics and instance types and have recived the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

thank you for sending this message.

I see you are having some trouble with traffic mirroring, so this link below will guide you in doing so step by step : https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/mirroring/traffic-mirroring-session.html

Looking at the error you provided, there’s a possibility that you might have used an unsupported instance type. Traffic Mirroring is not supported on the following Nitro instance types :

[1] n.metal
[2] u-
.metal
[3] p4d.*

This link below provides you with Traffic Mirroring quotas and considerations : https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/mirroring/traffic-mirroring-considerations.html

You can also check the foliowing thread, the person had the same issue and he solved it by changing the instance type to a supported nitro instance : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/56998034/error-network-interface-must-be-attached-to-a-supported-instance-createtraffi
