Transribing Numbers in es-ES

0

I've been testing Transcribe regarding numbers in English and works fine. But when it comes to Spanish and I say Doscientos millones, it writes 200000000 without periods or commas. That figure should be written as 200.000.000 or 200 millones. We are creating subtitles for a live streaming service and the end user does not have time to count zeros :) Is there a way I can configure Transcribe to do it as I propose?

Amazon Transcribe handles number transcription differently depending on the language. While the service automatically transcribes numbers into digits for supported languages, the specific formatting for Spanish (es-ES) may not include the periods or commas you're looking for in large numbers.

Based on the available information, Amazon Transcribe supports Spanish (es-ES) for both batch and streaming transcription, but there's no specific configuration option mentioned that would allow you to format numbers with periods/commas (like 200.000.000) or maintain the word format (like "200 millones") for Spanish specifically.

The number transcription feature works differently across languages, with some languages having more robust support than others. For languages with number transcription support, Amazon Transcribe converts spoken numbers into digits based on context, but the specific formatting rules for Spanish large numbers don't appear to be customizable in the way you're requesting.

Since you're creating subtitles for a live streaming service, you might need to consider post-processing the transcription output to format large numbers according to your requirements, as there doesn't seem to be a direct configuration option in Amazon Transcribe to achieve the formatting you desire for Spanish numbers.
