Elastic IP address could not be allocated. The maximum number of addresses has been reached.

Hello,

We are trying to allocate a new elastic IP and running into the 5 IP limit. We requested an increase to our quota which was approved a few days ago, but still get the error that the quota is exceeded. I have verified there are only 5 in use in the console and I see that the quota is the new increased value.

The limit is per region, make sure you have requested the increase in the same region you intend to use more than 5 IP addresses. I suggest going through this article https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/ec2-troubleshoot-elastic-ip-addresses
