Waiting for RDS Proxy support for caching_sha2_password authentication plugin

MySQL encourages changing DB users to the more secure "caching_sha2_password" authentication plugin but RDS proxy currently doesn't support it.
We're getting this error message when trying to connect with such user : "RDS Proxy supports only IAM or mysql_native_password authentication."
When can we expect RDS proxy support for it?

Hi,
To obtain a valid answer to your question, you need to open a Support ticket in the console of your AWS account: service teams do not monitor re:Post to answer such questions.
