How to disable guardrails/controls in Control Tower

0

I am trying to disable a Guardrail/Control in Control Tower, and can't figure out how. Enabling a control is documented (below) and straightforward, but I cannot find anything in the doc describing how to disable the control and can't find anything obvious in the UI to perform this action. Any suggestions? https://docs.aws.amazon.com/controltower/latest/userguide/enable-controls-on-ou.html

Disable guardrails from the Control Tower console, from the Guardrails screen.
Guardrail--> select guardrail --> select OU from which to disable --> click ‘Disable guardrail’. But cannot disable a mandatory guardrail as that would defeat the purpose of it being “mandatory”

Technically, mandatory also can be detached from AWS Organizations, but in that case it will become a noncompliant org

  • Thank you for the answer. One thing to note is the above verbiage is similar to other documentation I have come across which seems to have changed recently. In walking through it in the Console, the verbiage I am seeing is: Control Tower Page Console -> All Controls -> Select Control -> OUs Enabled Tab -> Select OU to Disable -> Disable Control.

But the gist is the same, and that is what I was looking for...thanks!
