Speeding up the process of creating a partner

0

Currently, we have it set up to call Boto3 to create a profiles, certificates, connectors, etc. In addition to these calls, the program has to pull all the local profiles to get the correct one. This process is extremely slow and there is no functionality in Boto3 to just pull the correct profile given a name or as2 id. It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes to create a partner. Is there a way this process can be sped up?

While there isn't a direct way to pull a specific profile by name or AS2 ID using Boto3, there are several strategies you can employ to potentially speed up the process of creating a partner:

  1. Caching: Instead of pulling all local profiles each time, consider implementing a caching mechanism. You can store the profile information locally and update it periodically or when changes occur. This can significantly reduce the time spent retrieving profiles.

  2. Parallel Processing: If you're creating multiple components (profiles, certificates, connectors) sequentially, consider using parallel processing. Python's asyncio or multiprocessing libraries can help you make multiple Boto3 calls concurrently.

  3. Batch Operations: Where possible, use batch operations provided by AWS services to create or retrieve multiple resources in a single API call.

  4. Optimize Queries: If you must retrieve all profiles, ensure you're only requesting the necessary attributes to identify the correct profile. This can reduce data transfer and processing time.

  5. Use of AWS Partner Assistant: AWS has recently introduced the AWS Partner Assistant, a generative AI-powered virtual assistant available in AWS Partner Central. While it's primarily designed for answering questions and providing guidance, it might offer insights or shortcuts for partner-related operations that could indirectly help optimize your process.

  6. Consider Alternative APIs: Check if there are any newer AWS APIs or services that might offer more efficient ways to manage partner profiles and related resources.

  7. Local Indexing: If you frequently need to look up profiles by name or AS2 ID, consider maintaining a local index that maps these identifiers to the full profile information. This could significantly speed up lookups without needing to query AWS each time.

Remember, while these suggestions may help, the exact implementation will depend on your specific use case and the volume of partners you're dealing with. It might be worth reaching out to AWS support for tailored advice on optimizing your particular workflow.
