Will I be billed if my Free Tier period with AWS is expiring but I have no active services?

0

I received an email notifying me that the Free Tier period for my account is expiring and that I will be charged for any active services going forward. I checked my account and see that I currently have no active services running - will I still be charged at the end of the period despite my non-usage of any service?

I had only used Mechanical Turk in the past but believed that was a pay-as-you-go service and I am no longer using it anyways.

If you have no active services or resources running in your account, then you won't incur any charges from AWS. There is also an free tier that will let you run some resources under specific services for free: https://aws.amazon.com/free

Since you could potentially be charged for unauthorized usage, it's recommended that you set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your root user and any IAM users you may have set up: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/id_credentials_mfa.html.

Additionally, you can also set up a Free Tier alert (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awsaccountbilling/latest/aboutv2/tracking-free-tier-usage.html) and/or a zero-use budget to alert you when there's any usage in your account that you could be charged for: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cost-management/latest/userguide/budget-templates.html

Hope this helps!
