DNS configuration for cPanel email forwarding

0

I have successfully migrated a cPanel WordPress site from GoDaddy shared hosting to Lightsail. Domain registration and DNS management are still on GoDaddy. Having modified the top level domain and mail subdomain A records on GoDaddy to point to my Lightsail static IP, I can access my web site OK. However, the email forwarders I have set up in cPanel on Lightsail are not working. Changing the mail A record on GoDaddy back to its original value allows the cPanel forwarders on my GoDaddy site to work as before. Are there other DNS records that need to be added or modified for cPanel email forwarding on Lightsail to work? TIA

Hello, GrayBeard007,

Thanks for using Lightsail!

We get questions like this a lot so we wrote a doc on it: https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/amazon-lightsail-configuring-reverse-dns

That procedure will step you through the process for enabling outbound SMTP on your instance.

Thanks,

Donley

Thanks for the reply. I eventually found out my problem was caused by the port 25 block, which has since been removed.
