How can I avoid route 53 billing?

0

I am new to AWS. I hosted a little website on free tier AWS EC2, also registered a domain name. All was OK when I was learning. I was so happy when I had my own website and domain name. But I felt surprised when I checked my billing dashboard. The bill for "Amazon Route 53 APS1-ResolverNetworkInterface" of this month (only 6 days) is about USD60. The average daily cost for it should be USD10. My website is not for business. I think the cost was too expensive. So how can I avoid it? Thanks.

  • To add more details. I did not configure any inbound endpoints and outbound endpoints. There is only a rules names as "Internet Resolver" which I cannot delete it.

Just double-checking you did verify you don't have any inbound or outbound endpoints at ap-south-1 Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region?

It looks like you're not the first person this has happened to https://repost.aws/questions/QUyCBt5yrhQgmhW38blsY0bw/how-to-stop-billing-for-route-53-resolver-network-interface

The troubleshooting steps offered in the above case would be useful to do here as well, and if nothing comes up then the suggestion to open a case with AWS Support would be a good next step.

  • I finally realized that the cost includes two parts: 1) $0.125 per hour per Resolver Network Interface, and 2) $0.40 per 1,000,000 resolver queries. 1) is not comfortable to me because I just tried to learn AWS by using free tier.
