Failure to login in to AWS Console from different browsers

0

Hello A colleague is failing to login to AWS Portal from their PC. When AWS Console login is tested from other PCs, it works well. On her PC, we tried in different browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave and login still failed. Her account was deleted and re-setup upon which login worked again. Thou same issue has resurfaced hours after the re-setup. How best can this be troubleshoot? Note: Account has MFA enabled and system time is up to date which is crucial during login

This issue seems to be specific to your colleague's PC, as the login works from other PCs. Given that multiple browsers have been tried and the problem persists even after account re-setup, here are some troubleshooting steps to consider:

  1. Clear browser cache and cookies: This should be done for all browsers on the problematic PC. Sometimes, corrupted or stale data can cause login issues.

  2. Check for browser extensions: Disable all browser extensions, especially ad blockers or privacy extensions, as they might interfere with the login process.

  3. Use incognito/private browsing mode: This can help rule out any issues caused by browser settings or extensions.

  4. Verify network settings: Ensure there are no proxy settings or firewalls blocking access to AWS services.

  5. Check for malware: Run a full system scan to rule out any malware that might be interfering with the login process.

  6. Sync time settings: Although you mentioned the system time is up to date, double-check that it's syncing correctly with a reliable NTP server.

  7. Verify MFA device: Ensure the MFA device (likely a smartphone app) is functioning correctly and generating the right codes.

  8. Check for account lockouts: Verify with the AWS administrator that the account isn't being locked due to failed login attempts.

  9. Review recent changes: Consider any recent changes to the PC's configuration, software installations, or updates that might have affected the login process.

  10. Test on a different network: If possible, try logging in from the same PC but on a different network to rule out any network-specific issues.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it may be necessary to involve AWS Support for further investigation. They can check for any account-specific problems that might not be visible from the user side.

Remember, for security reasons, it's crucial to ensure that only authorized personnel are attempting to access the AWS account and that all troubleshooting steps are performed in compliance with your organization's security policies.
