Move individual S3 objects to glacier deep archive

I have a bucket configured to transition all objects to INTELLIGENT_TIERING immediately, but I also want to be able to selectively move objects to DEEP_ARCHIVE, ideally without renaming (one or many). Often the items to be "transitioned" are >10GB.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do, but are you saying that you are going to select objects one by one and migrate them to the Glacier Deep archive?
If it fits, it can be done from the management console, or it can be done with the AWS CLI.

  • Essentially yes, I was hoping to avoid a download/upload cycle but it appears the only option to avoid that is a lifecycle rule. Lifecycle rules are relatively blunt instruments (for good reason) with only a prefix filter that I can see
