IoT Thing Certificates Automation Options

I'm looking into what alternatives are there to be able to automate the process of creating an IoT Thing with its certificates.

In my current flow, I have a Cloudformation stack that I deploy project based. There I didn't include the IoT thing, because if I create it with Cloudformation I'm not able to generate its certificates afterwards. I will have an application that an API makes this stack creation, but how can I provide the creation and download the certificates of the created Thing? Are there any options?
