End of support for aws-iot-device-sdk-embedded-C v3.0.1

0

Hello, I'm currently taking over a project that uses the aws-iot-device-sdk-embedded-C sdk (https://github.com/aws/aws-iot-device-sdk-embedded-C) in version 3.0.1. My question is: Until when will this version (or more generally the v3 branch) be supported in terms :

  1. Bug fixes
  2. Operations (I mean until when will it work with AWS MQTT broker and other APIs

Thanks for you help, best regards.

Hi. Version 3.0.1 was released in May 2018. There were some bug fixes after that: https://github.com/aws/aws-iot-device-sdk-embedded-C/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#310-september-08-2020. Per the change log for 3.1.0 (September 2020):

This represents the last tag for the v3 version of AWS IoT Device SDK for Embedded C.

I can see in the tags that it went up to 3.1.5 (December 2020): https://github.com/aws/aws-iot-device-sdk-embedded-C/tags

So V3 is no longer supported (in terms of bug fixes). There is no ongoing maintenance and there is no v3 branch.

Please be aware of the migration guide: https://aws.github.io/aws-iot-device-sdk-embedded-C/latest/docs/doxygen/output/html/migration_guide.html
