AWS User Notification De-duplication not working

0

I've turned on trusted access in my management account for AWS User Notifications. I've gone to each member account and turned on managed notifications and disabled all notification emails from each member account.

I'm now getting bombarded with AWS Health Events through my management account notification subscriptions for each member account (things like RDS INCREASED API LATENCIES). I'll get something like:

  • Health event for region us-west-2 in account 9999
  • Health event for region us-west-2 in account 7777
  • Health event for region us-west-2 in account 5555
  • (Aggregated) Health Event in us-west-2 affecting 3 accounts

Why am I getting BOTH the individual events AND the aggregate event(s)?

I may related to:

• Aggregated notifications in the management account • Individual notifications for each member account because: o The contacts are not shared across accounts o Deduplication only suppresses email delivery, not console notifications o You may have subscriptions set up per account, not just centrally

Hi Chad, is the duplication on email only or are you also seeing the 4 notifications (1 aggregate and 3 duplicates) in the management account's notification center under the "AWS managed" tab?

If you're able to, please open a support case with the above information and provide us with your account IDs.

  • This morning I got a bunch of notifications in email and also in the User Notifications console in the root account for "Health Event: AWS RDS API ISSUE in us-east-1 on account <account id>".

I got three notifications for the same region and same account, four for the same region and another account, and then three more for the same region and a third account, and several more for the same region and other accounts. In total, 12 emails and 12 user notifications for what seems like the same notification.

I don't have AWS support unfortunately.

Thank you for the response Kidd Ip and the review Jordan Sandri!

• Aggregated notifications in the management account

I'm not sure what this means. I am getting aggregated notifications AND the individual notifications. I'm trying to figure out how I can just get the aggregated.

• Individual notifications for each member account because:

I do see the notifications in the root account's AWS Health screen, so I think they are getting all the way up to the root account. And I've turned off all subscriptions in all member accounts.

o The contacts are not shared across accounts

I have made sure that the billing, operations, and security contacts are exactly the same across all accounts including the root.

o Deduplication only suppresses email delivery, not console notifications

I'm getting duplicate emails (the aggregate and also the individuals)

o You may have subscriptions set up per account, not just centrally

I disabled AWS User Notification subscriptions across all accounts except the root/management account.
