(Serverless) Amazon Aurora MySQL 1 end of life on February 28, 2023

0

We received this email about Amazon Aurora MySQL 1 EoL, but the instructions for upgrading only seem to apply to the non-serverless variety. We have a serverless cluster (Aurora version 1.22.3).

I am wonder if this was sent in error, or do we have to create a new cluster or something?

Instruction for Aurora MySQL Serverless v1 has been added to our public document(https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/AuroraUserGuide/Aurora.MySQL56.EOL.html). EOL schedule is same as Provisioned Aurora MySQL Cluster.

For Aurora Serverless v1 DB clusters, you can complete upgrades from Aurora MySQL version 1 to Aurora MySQL version 2 by taking a snapshot of an Aurora MySQL version 1 cluster and restoring the snapshot to an Aurora MySQL version 2 cluster. For more details about this method, see Restoring an Aurora Serverless v1 DB cluster.

Mysql Aurora version 1 is MySQL 5.6 and it will get EOL at the end of March 2023. Serverless Aurora V1 supports Mysql version 1 (5.6), version 2 (5.7) and version 3 (8.0) so upgrade it to version 2 (5.7) or version 3 (8.0). It is not EOL for Serverless V1. It is just EOL for Mysql 5.6.
