We kicked off the opensech upgrade on 7/12/2022, and as of 10:20am on 9/12/2022 the status is still showing as;
{
"UpgradeStep": "PRE_UPGRADE_CHECK",
"StepStatus": "IN_PROGRESS",
"UpgradeName": "Upgrade from OpenSearch_1.3 to OpenSearch_2.3"
}
Via the cli, and in the console the status shows as "Check Eligibility" at 50%. This has been stuck at 50% for the past 36 hours, and from what I've read online and in the AWS documentation, this cannot be canceled without intervention from the backend team, and that support is only available with pro support plans. If this is true then this is ridiculous. I'm all for paying for support when you don't know how to fix a problem, but not when the functionality to fix the issue isn't available to us as admins.
The cancel-service-software-update cli argument doesn't work either there are technically no pending scheduled updates planned.
The issue is that we need to increase the EBD storage capacity to 800Gb for a large data upload but this cannot be done whilst the upgrade is stuck so this is now stalling productivity.
If this cannot be resolved then we need to look at hosting our own elasticsearch dashboards where we have full control, without having to pay $1,000+ for a month of support to simply cancel a migration
How can I cancel this software upgrade and increase the EBS storage?
