Yes, there is likely a lower limit imposed on new AWS accounts for Amazon ECS tasks. While the standard limit for Amazon ECS is indeed 5000 tasks per cluster, new AWS accounts often start with lower initial quotas that increase over time based on usage.
For new accounts that are only a few days old, like yours, AWS typically sets lower initial limits as a precautionary measure. This is done to protect new users from accidentally provisioning too many resources and to prevent potential misuse.
The fact that you're experiencing the same 30-task limit in two different regions suggests this is indeed an account-level restriction rather than a regional one.
Amazon ECS constantly monitors account usage within each Region and automatically increases quotas based on your usage over time. However, for a 3-day-old account, you haven't had much time to establish a usage pattern yet.
If you need to run more than 30 tasks immediately, you have a couple of options:
-
Wait for a short period (usually a few days to a week) as you continue to use the service. AWS may automatically increase your limits as it observes your usage patterns.
-
Request a quota increase. You can do this through the AWS Service Quotas console. Even though your account is new, AWS may consider increasing your limit if you can justify your need for more resources.
Remember, these initial lower quotas are temporary and are in place to help new users gradually scale their usage of AWS services.
