unexpected status "DELETE_IN_PROGRESS" while waiting for CloudFormation stack "eksctl-0ab8096a3e18-cluster"

Does this happen if the user tries to delete the stack when the cluster is being created ?

Hello there!

You can try to find the root cause looking into 'Resources' tab inside CloudFormation stack "eksctl-0ab8096a3e18-cluster" to see which resource failed to create or any resource that was already created and not deleted yet. You can delete manually those resources and then re-execute the cluster creation again. If you are trying or recreating multiple times the same template, some resources could be already created and then into the next execution could fail due resource already created (conflict).

Here you can find additional information about Stack resources and their status - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSCloudFormation/latest/UserGuide/cfn-console-view-stack-data-resources.html
